Application Process

Step 1: Fill Out Application Forms

  1. Associate or Bachelor Degrees

  2. Certificate in Ministry Leadership

  3. Certificate in Christian Faith and Practice

  4. Re-entry Student

Step 2: Apply For Financial Aid

Complete your federally provided Free Application For Federal Student Aid online. Also known as the "FAFSA." You will need to secure a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) with which to sign your completed online application. Dependent students must secure an FSA ID for themselves and an FSA ID for one parent. There is a practice work sheet available at the web site to help you anticipate the nature of the data that may be required on the FAFSA. Do not mail your practice work sheet to NU, as it cannot be processed.

If you are a veteran, please contact our VA Coordinator at 425.889.5263 for information about military educational benefits. Veterans are encouraged to file a FAFSA, as financial aid from the U.S. Dept. of Education in no way reduces or negates veterans benefits for which the veteran qualifies.

Current School Year: Spring applicants are advised to select the correct school year tab with care at the FAFSA web site. Spring Terms are considered to be the trailing semester of the current school year. Fall Terms mark the start of the new school year.

Students who desire a timely receipt of an offer of financial aid are advised to apply at least four weeks in advance of the term start of classes. Sometimes, additional federal documents must be provided to the school to facilitate an offer of financial aid. Therefore, late filers must anticipate a possible delay in processing due to additional documents that may need gathered.

After you have been approved for admission, your FAFSA results submitted to NU, your financial aid eligibility will be determined. An offer of financial aid will be formally mailed as well in most cases. Where time is of the essence, an electronic award letter will be generated for student review and acceptance.

Your offer of aid may include need-based grants and scholarships as well as self-help financial aid through guaranteed Stafford loans and work study programs.

Submittal of all required paperwork, including responding to your award letter in a timely manner, is required to secure aid in time for a scheduled term disbursement of aid. All funds, including Stafford loans, are electronically transmitted to Northwest University and applied directly to your applicable charges for tuition and fees.

Step 3: Send Your Transcripts

Order official academic transcripts from all your previous college(s) and have them sent directly to:

Note: Northwest University requires official transcripts of all colleges and universities you have attended, regardless of academic status and/or degree/certificate/completion factors.
