When it came time to look for graduate programs– I was married and established and had a career, so I decided to look in the area and Northwest had a program and it was perfect for me.

Situation Before School

I was a special education teacher for 10 years and found that I spent most of my day counseling without any skills to do the counseling that I was doing.

I like the small cohort. I like that I know the people I'’m going to class with, and my professors know me.

Program Structure

Because we’re in class together all the time, every single time we meet in the same group of people, you get to be really close with the people you'’re sitting in class with.

Plans After Graduation

I plan to work with at risk kids in a more counseling capacity versus a teaching capacity.

I think that what appeals to me about it is the relational aspect of it, that it is so very relational.

Final Thoughts

It fits great into a career if that'’s what you'’re doing. You could work during the day and go to school at night.
